Q. I cannot see the player

A. In order for the player to be fully functional you need to have flash player 8 or higher installed, and JavaScript needs to be enabled.

Q. I cannot hear anything or volume is quite low.

A. Volume settings can be adjusted byusing the volume slider, slide the bar to the right to increase sound. Also ensure that the system volume isn’t muted. A good way to test this is to play a CD and see if you get any sound. Of course you will also need speakers.

Q. I keep getting “buffering” whilst watching.

A. “Buffering” simply means that the player is downloading required parts of the video you are watching, this may happen from time to time. If you experience this constantly you may be experiencing a low bandwidth connection. Try refreshing the webpage (press F5) or manually selecting a lower quality video file.

Q. How do I install Flash Player/What is Flash Player?

A. Flash Player is a component for your web browser that allows you to view dynamic content such as video and animation, It is necessary component for our player to work.

The player will automatically detect whether or not you have flash player installed, if you do not have flash installed it will present you with the option to download. If this does not occur you can click here to go to the adobe website and installed the flash player. Upon arrival please follow the on screen instructions.

Q. Why do I need flash player version 8 or higher? I already have flash installed.

A. Flash player version 8 allows for higher quality videos and functionality with quicker download times, as we wanted to give our audience the best quality service possible we decided to utilises the technology that is available only in flash player 8 and above.

Q. How do I change the quality of the video?

A. the player will automatically select the best suited video quality based on your connection speed, this is so the content you view plays continuously without the need to “buffer” you may however override this by clicking on the quality selector button (picture) which is located at the bottom right of the player control bar.

Note: Selecting a video quality higher than your line bandwidth can handle will cause the player to buffer continuously.

Q. What is bandwidth?

A. Bandwidth is the amount of information or data that can be sent over a network connection (your telephone line) in a given period of time. Bandwidth is usually stated in bits per second (bps), kilobits per second (kbps), or megabits per second. The more bandwidth you have on your line the more data can be transferred to your computer allow you to view higher quality videos.

Q. Why is my bandwidth high at times and low at others?

A. Due to line contention( User competition for use of the same communication facilities), during peak periods you may experience a lower bandwidth than usual, this problem will need to be resolved by the company who supply your internet connection as it is possible to have your line upgraded. You will find however that this is a quite a common occurrence with most Internet Service Providers (ISP)’s.
